“The Tomball Centennial Commission is proud to announce that President George H. Bush has accepted our invitation to be the keynote speaker at the Tomball 100th Birthday Party scheduled for December 2, 2007,” stated Centennial President Diane Holland.Overjoyed over this news, the Commission is eager to share this new information with the people of Tomball.
Three years ago, Centennial President Diane Holland sent an invitation to President & Mrs. Bush, asking their consideration of being a part of this historic occasion.Upon their request to ask again closer to the event date, a second letter was sent in September of 2006.The President once again responded asking that he be contacted in the Spring of 2007.
Upon receipt of the third letter, Holland received a phone call telling her that the President had placed this event on his calendar and to expect the planning to commence after Labor Day.Though local planning has been progress for some time, this new information will require the plan to be revisited and refined to include this very special guest.
Tomball High School Principal Gary Moss is chairing the Birthday event. When he heard the news, he was thrilled, stating “We were excited about everything that was developing, but this takes it to a new dimension.”
Planned for 3:00 PM, December 2, 2007 at the Tomball High School Stadium, the birthday event will include other special guests, choral presentations, a parade of the decades, a fireworks exhibit, and birthday cake for everyone provided by Walmart.
Civic and service clubs, youth groups, school groups, and businesses can be a part of the parade of the decades. For further information, contact Gary Moss at 281-357-3239.
